Privacy Policy
Nimantran helps couples design wedding invitations and send each guest a personal PDF invitation on WhatsApp. We built it to keep as little of your data as possible: there are no accounts, no ads and no tracking. This policy explains exactly what happens to the information you put in.
Nimantran is operated by the Nimantran team (“we”, “us”). It covers the Nimantran website and the Nimantran app on Android.
The short version
- Your invite details and guest list are saved on your own phone, not on our servers.
- Guest phone numbers never reach our servers.
- To make a guest's PDF, the invite details are sent to our server, drawn, and returned. We don't keep them in a database.
- We don't sell data, show ads, use analytics or set cookies.
What you enter and where it is stored
When you create an invite you may enter the couple's names, the hosts' names, a city, a blessing, your wedding functions (dates, times, venues and dress codes) and your guests' names and phone numbers. All of this is stored in your browser's or app's local storage on your device. It is not uploaded to us and we cannot see it. It stays there until you delete it (see Your choices).
Your contacts
If you choose “Sync phone contacts”, your device shows its own contact picker (on Android) or you import a contacts file you exported yourself. Either way the contacts are read on your device only. We keep only the people you select as guests (their name and the phone number you choose), and we keep them on your device. We never upload your address book.
How invitations are made
When you preview, download or send an invitation, your device sends our server the details needed to draw it: the couple's names, hosts, city, blessing, the functions that guest is invited to (with dates, times, venues and dress codes) and the guest's name. It never sends phone numbers. Our server draws the pages and returns them as images or a PDF. We don't store these details in a database, but the finished images and PDFs are cached by our hosting provider's content delivery network so they load quickly, and may remain in that cache for some time.
The invitation you send is a PDF file. Once it's in a chat it belongs to that conversation, and the recipient can keep or forward it like any other file. The message that goes with it links to our homepage, not to your invitation.
Older invitations may have been shared as a link. Anyone with such a link can open that invitation, so share links only with the people you mean to invite.
Sending on WhatsApp and other services
When you tap a button that leaves Nimantran, information goes directly from your device to that service, under its own privacy policy:
- WhatsApp (Meta) and your share sheet: tapping Send hands the PDF and its message to the app you choose, usually WhatsApp. On devices that can't share files, the PDF is saved and WhatsApp opens with the guest's phone number and the message filled in.
- Google Calendar and Google Maps: guests who tap Calendar or Directions send that function's name, date, venue and city to Google.
Technical information
Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel Inc.) automatically processes technical data such as IP address, browser type and the address requested, to deliver the service and keep it secure. These logs are kept only for the short period set by our provider. We do not use them to identify or profile you.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising, and no selling or renting of personal data.
- No analytics, tracking pixels or third-party cookies.
- No access to your messages, photos, location, camera or microphone.
Children
Nimantran is meant for adults planning a wedding. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Your choices and rights
Because your data lives on your device, you are in control of it. You can remove a guest or function at any time, clear the app's data in your phone's settings, uninstall the app, or use the button below to erase everything Nimantran has saved on this device.
Invitations you have already sent are copies held by your guests. You can't recall them from inside the app; ask the guest to delete the message if needed. If you want an invitation removed from our cache, or you have any other privacy request (including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), contact us at the support email on our Google Play listing and we'll respond within 30 days.
Security
Nimantran is served only over HTTPS, and invite data is checked and size-limited before it's used. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but keeping data on your device means there is very little for anyone to breach.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, for example by adding accounts or RSVPs, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. See also our Cookie Policy and Terms of Use.
